Earthquake Shakes Naples, Italy
No Injuries or Major Damage Reported
A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has struck the Naples area in southern Italy, causing people to flee into the streets but no reports of injuries or major damage.
The quake struck at 8:20 p.m. Monday evening, with its epicenter about 10 kilometers northeast of Naples. It was followed by several smaller aftershocks.
The earthquake was the strongest to hit the Naples area in more than 40 years. The last major earthquake in the region was a magnitude 6.9 quake in 1980 that killed more than 2,500 people.
Authorities are still assessing the damage, but there are no reports of any major buildings or infrastructure being damaged.
